Description
MC1030-2 / Culture Medium with pH indicator for growth of Bacillus atrophaeus (ATCC®9372) and Bacillus subtilis DSM 5230 (ATCC® 35021) bacterial spores (2 ml). Turns from Blue to Yellow. Readout: 48hours.
To test growth of Bacillus atrophaeus ATCC® 9372 bacterial spores used for monitoring Dry Heat and EO sterilization processes and Bacillus subtilis ATCC® 35021 used for monitoring Steam at low temperature sterilization processes.
Instructions for use
1. Identify Bionova® MC1030-2 Indicator tube by writing the sterilizer number (if there is more than one), load number and processing date.
2. Open the envelope containing the spores carrier on the corner, under sterile conditions (for example: laminar flow) and transfer using a sterile forcep.
IMPORTANT: Use latex gloves and a mask when transferring the spores carrier from the envelope to the MC1030-2 Culture Medium tube.
WARNING: Avoid contact with the carrier and any surface, including the outside of the culture medium tube.
IMPORTANT: Every time a processed carrier is incubated, a non-sterilized spore carrier should be used as a positive control. A positive control assures proper incubation conditions.
3. Incubate the spore carrier inside the MC1030-2 Culture Medium at (37 ± 2) ºC. A color change to yellow of the growth indicator medium shows sterilization process has failed. If after 48 hours of incubation there is no color change of the MC1030-2 Culture Medium, the result is negative (the sterilization process has been successful).
The color of the MC1030-2 Indicator Medium used to incubate the non-sterilized spore carrier (positive control) should turn to yellow for the results to be valid. Positive results should be recorded and discarded immediately, as explained below.
WARNING: Do not use the sterilizer until the growth result from the spore carrier is negative (MC1030-2 Culture Medium containing a processed spores carrier remains its original color after 48 hours of incubation).
