Bowie-Dick Test Sheet is used to evaluate the efficacy of air removal in dynamic-air-removal steam sterilizers. Cycles of 3.5 minutes at 134 °C or 4 minutes at 132 °C. Please review the instructions for use for applicable cycles in your country

NOTE: Air removal or steam quality and penetration problems are evidenced as a heterogeneous color change of the chemical indicator, with lighter regions in the center of the sheet.
Instructions for use
1. Run a warm-up cycle to properly heat the sterilizer
2. Prepare the test pack of cotton surgical towels freshly laundered, but not ironed. The package should be conditioned in accordance with technical guidelines (ANSI/AAMI ST79 or ISO 11140-5) with standardized dimensions: (250 ± 20) mm x (300 ± 20) mm.
3. Place a single Chemdye® BDA4/1 Bowie-Dick Test Sheet in the center of the test pack.
4. Secure the pack with tape not exceeding 25 mm in width.
5. Place the test pack horizontally in the lower shelf of an empty vacuum assisted steam sterilizer.
6. Run the sterilizer cycle for 3.5 min. – 134 °C / 4 min. – 132 °C.
7. After completion of the cycle, remove the test sheet from the pack and examine for compliance.
