Bionova® BT10

Self-Contained Biological Indicator. 106 Bacillus atrophaeus ATCC 9372 spores per vial. Incubation at (37 ± 2) °C for 48 hours (maximum). Positive growth results (failure in the sterilization process): Culture medium turns to yellow.

Bionova® BT110

Self-Contained Biological Indicator.

106 Bacillus atrophaeus ATCC 9372 spores per vial. Rapid Readout Fluorescence System. Final fluorescence reading is performed after 4-hour incubation at (37 ± 2) °C. An optional visual pH color change confirmation could be made after incubation for 48 hours at (37 ± 2) °C.

If sterilization process has not been successful, culture medium will change to a greenish color first, and then to yellow during incubation at (37 ± 2) °C, thus showing the presence of living spores. If sterilization process is successful culture medium will remain blue after the incubation process.

7-day readout for visual confirmation by color change is optional and not intended to be routinely performed; it is an initial validation of the 4 hour-reading. Fluorescence results may be compared to the 7-day visual reading. NOTE: if 7-day readout is performed, a humidified environment will be required to avoid medium dry out.

Bionova® BT40

Spore Strip

106 Bacillus atrophaeus ATCC 9372 spores per strip. The spore strip should be tested in a suitable culture medium at (37 ± 2) °C. We suggest the use of Bionova® MC1030-2 or MC1020-2 culture media to final reading in 48 hours.

Bionova® MC1030-2 Sterile growth medium is specially formulated for use with our Bionova® products (also suitable for other brand products).

Growth medium color: blue

Plastic tube: 68 mm high, 10 mm diameter.

Medium volume: 2 ml For germination and growth of Bacillus atrophaeus ATCC 9372 and Bacillus subtilis ATCC35021 bacterial spores. Incubation conditions: 48 hours (maximum) at (37 ± 2) °C. Medium turns to yellow when spores grow.

Level 1 €“ Red: Exposure level, it turns to yellow to indicate the exposure to the process but it does not assure that the conditions indicated in the integrator have been met (UNSAFE condition).

Level 2 €“ Purple/Brown: Integration level, it turns to green thus indicating that conditions indicated in the integrator have been met.

These conditions are calibrated with the kill time of a 106 Bacillus atrophaeus spores population, calculated in BIER (Biological Indicator Evaluator Resistometer). This is called SAFE condition. Conditions: EO 600 mg/l, RH 60 %, 54 ºC.
